Seeing MAFS’ Bec Zachariah, Below Deck’s Ali Dore and Carly Porter openly share their decision to travel to Bali for rib contouring has sparked a huge debate online.

Personally, I think it’s important that everyone has autonomy over their own body. My body, my choice. If these women have made an informed decision to do something that makes them feel happier or more confident, that’s their choice to make.

The conversation I do think is worth having is whether cosmetic surgery is something influencers should be paid to promote. That’s a separate discussion, and one I think is fair to question. What I do appreciate, though, is the transparency. Instead of quietly coming back with a completely different body and pretending it happened naturally, they’re showing the process. In a world where social media is often filtered, edited and unrealistic, being honest about cosmetic procedures arguably creates a more truthful picture of how those results were achieved.

The backlash has been intense, with plenty of nasty comments directed at them. I can’t help but wonder, what has actually triggered people the most? Is it the surgery itself? The fact it’s being promoted? The influence they have on young audiences? Or is it simply that women making choices about their own bodies still makes some people uncomfortable?

I’d love to hear your thoughts. Where do you draw the line?
